FermionIC and Tata Electronics Partner to Accelerate Indigenous Chip Manufacturing

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], September 12: FermionIC Design Pvt. Ltd., a fabless RFIC design company based in Bangalore, today announced a strategic partnership with Tata Electronics. This collaboration will provide advanced wafer-level testing, packaging, and post-silicon validation services. The alliance is aimed at accelerating the production of FermionIC’s indigenously designed and owned 4-Channel X-Band Beamformer IC, which was developed specifically for next-generation TDD Phased Array Antennas.

This FD3R4411 Beamformer IC is a pioneering innovation from India, marking a major advancement for the country’s semiconductor and radar technology ecosystem. By allowing for the creation of smaller, high-performance phased array systems, this chip addresses the requirements for ranging radars, imaging radars, and advanced surveillance platforms. With its adoption by multiple public and private organizations already underway, the IC is poised to enhance India’s ability to develop its own phased array radar solutions.

As part of this new agreement, Tata Electronics will operate as the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partner, handling flip-chip ball grid array (FcBGA) assembly and wafer-level testing. This partnership between FermionIC Design and Tata Electronics highlights the increasing cooperation between India’s leading semiconductor design firms and their advanced manufacturing partners.

“Our collaboration with Tata Electronics allows us to move this complex, fully ‘Made in India’ IC from the design phase to phased volume production beginning in Q4 2025 on an accelerated schedule,” said Gautam Kumar Singh, CEO of FermionIC Design. “This partnership also ensures that nearly the entire manufacturing value chain remains within our country.”
